Giant Mountains – Krkonose National Park

Krkonose National Park

Krkonose National Park (KRNAP) spreads in the northeast part of Bohemia at the border with Poland. The total area of the territory is 54,969 ha and it is directed from northwest to southeast. The Giant Mountains came to exist due to the folding of land in the Paleozoic Age approximately 600 million years ago. They significantly extend the timber line which is in the altitude of approximately 1250 meters above the sea level. Mountain Snezka is naturally the highest mountain which has its peak 1,602 meters above the sea level and is the highest mountain of the Czech Republic.
